Godzilla from the 2014 film weighs 90,000 tonnes, about 198 million lb. That is the official figure for the Legendary version, worked out from his body volume as if he were filled with water. Other films give other numbers, from 20,000 tonnes in 1954 to 99,634 tonnes from 2019 on.

Where the 90,000 tonnes comes from
The 2014 Godzilla’s stats circulated a few weeks before the film opened. Legendary’s own fact sheet gave his height as 355 ft, and a trivia guide from TheMovieBit lists him at 355 ft (108.2 m) tall, with a 550 ft 4 in (167.74 m) tail and a total volume of 89,724 m³, and gives his weight as “90,000 tons”, described as his volume if filled with water.
That is simple maths. A cubic metre of water weighs one tonne, so 89,724 m³ of water is 89,724 tonnes, rounded to 90,000. Real animals, people included, are close to the density of water, so it is a fair way to weigh a monster that only exists as a computer model. Japanese books such as Shin Godzilla Walker (Kadokawa, 2016) print the same 90,000 t, in metric tons.
Godzilla’s weight in every era
Toho gave the original 1954 Godzilla 50 m and 20,000 tonnes, and the Showa films that followed kept those numbers. When he came back in 1984 he was 80 m and 50,000 t, and from Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (1991) to the end of the Heisei series he was 100 m and 60,000 t.
The Millennium films reset him for each story: 55 m and 25,000 t in Godzilla 2000 and the Kiryu films, 60 m and 30,000 t in GMK (2001), and 100 m and 55,000 t in Godzilla: Final Wars (2004). Shin Godzilla (2016) jumped to 118.5 m and 92,000 t for his final form. Godzilla Minus One (2023) went back to 50.1 m, but we found no official weight for it.
The 1998 American Godzilla from TriStar is the odd one out. He is a leaner, faster animal, a little over 180 ft (about 54 m) tall, and the film’s novelization puts him at only 500 tons, less than 1% of the 2014 version.
The MonsterVerse Godzilla after 2014
For Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) Legendary made him bigger: 393 ft (119.8 m) tall with a 582 ft (177.4 m) tail, and 99,634 tons, a figure from Monarch’s in-universe profile that Japanese material gives in metric tons. He keeps those stats through Godzilla vs. Kong (2021) and Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire (2024).
Oddly, his weight went up by the same 10.7% as his height. A real animal that grows while keeping its shape gains weight with the cube of its height, which would put a 119.8 m Godzilla at about 122,000 tonnes.
The opening credits of Godzilla vs. Kong list him at 164,000 tons. Wikizilla traces that number to a 2014 Popular Mechanics article in which scientists estimated what a real Godzilla would weigh. Director Adam Wingard later said the title sequence was finished in a rush during the pandemic and some details were overlooked, so 99,634 is still the official figure.
The 2014 Godzilla is 355 ft (108.2 m) tall. From King of the Monsters (2019) on he is 393 ft (119.8 m). The Toho originals were 50 m, the Heisei Godzilla reached 100 m, and Shin Godzilla stands 118.5 m.

Which Godzilla is the heaviest?
Among the live-action films, the MonsterVerse Godzilla from 2019 on, at 99,634 tonnes, just ahead of Shin Godzilla’s 92,000. The 300 m Godzilla Earth from Toho’s anime trilogy edges them both at 100,000 tonnes.
