500 kg1,100 lb
Bowser weighs about 500 kg (roughly 1,100 lb) by our estimate. No Mario game gives his weight. The only printed figure we found is in a 1986 Japanese anime film pamphlet, which calls him a 10-tonne monster. Scaling Mario up to twice his height, Bowser’s usual size, gives about 560 kg.

As far as we can find, no Mario game gives Bowser a height or weight, so we worked it out. His size changes a lot between games, from barely taller than Mario in the original Super Mario Bros. to about five times his height in Super Mario Odyssey, but Super Mario Wiki notes he is usually about twice Mario’s height. The one source that gives Mario numbers, the 1986 film pamphlet below, lists him at 150 cm and 70 kg. Weight grows with the cube of height, so doubling Mario gives 2 × 2 × 2 = 8 times the weight: 560 kg, for a Bowser about 3 m tall.
Bowser is much bulkier than Mario and carries a spiked shell, so if anything he could be heavier. We rounded to half a tonne, which sits well among real heavy reptiles. Adult male Aldabra giant tortoises average 250 kg with a shell about 1.2 m long, so Bowser is roughly two of them. Adult male saltwater crocodiles average 408 to 770 kg at 4 to 4.5 m long, and the biggest measured ones, like Lolong in the Philippines (1,075 kg), pass a tonne.
The 1986 film Super Mario Bros.: Peach-hime Kyūshutsu Dai Sakusen! was a Japan-only anime made by Grouper Productions in cooperation with Nintendo. Its pamphlet has a height chart with stats for the cast: Mario 150 cm and 70 kg, Luigi 158 cm and 62 kg, Peach 160 cm and 41 kg. Bowser gets no height, but his blurb calls him a shape-shifting monster that weighs 10 tonnes (about 22,000 lb).
The chart draws him towering several times over Mario, and at that scale 10 tonnes is not far off. Scaling Mario to five times his height, the size Bowser reaches in Super Mario Odyssey, gives 5 × 5 × 5 × 70 kg, or about 8,750 kg. For the usual Bowser of the games, half a tonne fits better.
In Super Smash Bros., weight is a game stat that sets how hard a fighter is to knock away, not a mass in kilograms. Bowser has had the highest weight of any fighter in every game since Melee: 117 in Melee, 120 in Brawl, 130 in Smash 4 and 135 in Ultimate, just ahead of King K. Rool at 133. Mario is 98, the lightest fighter, Pichu, is 62, and the average is about 96. Giga Bowser, his huge transformed form, is set at 150 in Ultimate.
Mario Kart puts Bowser in the heavyweight class. In Mario Kart 8’s internal stats he has the maximum weight value of 10, shared with Wario and Dry Bowser, where Mario has 6. Like the other heavyweights he trades acceleration and handling for top speed.
There is no official height. He is usually drawn about twice Mario’s height, which works out to around 3 m (10 ft) if Mario is 150 cm, as the 1986 film pamphlet says. Some games make him much bigger, up to about five times Mario’s height in Super Mario Odyssey.
Not in the games. The only number we found is from the pamphlet for a 1986 Japanese anime film made with Nintendo, which calls him a 10-tonne monster. That fits a giant Bowser rather than his usual size.
Yes. He has been the heaviest fighter in every Smash game since Melee, with a weight of 135 in Ultimate. That number measures resistance to knockback, not kilograms.
Heavyweight. In Mario Kart 8 he has the top weight value of 10, the same as Wario and Dry Bowser, so he is slow to accelerate but fast at full speed.
Nintendo never gives a real weight. In Smash Bros. Ultimate his weight stat is 150, and in Brawl and Smash 4 it was set to 400, though in those games he could not be knocked back at all.
