472 kg1,040 lb
The Hulk weighs 472 kg (1,040 lb) according to Marvel’s first Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe (1983), which lists him at 7 ft tall. That is the low end: later handbooks let the Savage Hulk grow to 1,400 lb at 8 ft, and Marvel.com now lists him at 1,150 lb. The films give no official weight.

The number first appeared in The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe #5 (May 1983), Marvel’s encyclopedia of its characters, which gave the Hulk a height of 7 ft (2.13 m) and a weight of 1,040 lb. It has been the standard comics figure ever since, even though Marvel has added bigger numbers on top of it.
The 2004 Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe: Hulk turned it into a range. Because the Savage Hulk grows as he gets angrier, it lists him at 7 to 8 ft and 1,040 to 1,400 lb, so 1,040 lb is the Hulk when he is at his calmest. Marvel’s own character page today uses a different version again: 7 ft 6 in and 1,150 lb for the Hulk, next to 5 ft 9 in and 128 lb for Banner.
Either way, the change is huge. Banner at 128 lb becomes a Hulk about 8 times heavier, while getting only about 20% taller. A real 7 ft bodybuilder would weigh nowhere near half a tonne, so the comics Hulk is far denser than any human body.
Over the decades Banner has split into several Hulks, and the 2004 handbook gives each its own size. Joe Fixit, the grey, street-smart Hulk who worked as a Las Vegas enforcer, is the smallest at 6 ft 6 in and 900 lb (408 kg). The Merged Hulk, often called Professor Hulk, combines Banner’s mind with the Hulk’s body and stands 7 ft 6 in at 1,150 lb (522 kg).
The Savage Hulk is the one with no fixed size, from 1,040 lb up to 1,400 lb (635 kg) at 8 ft. Outside the main comics, the Ultimate Hulk is bigger still: Ultimate Human #1 (2008) puts him at about 8 and a half feet and 1,200 lb (544 kg).
Marvel Studios has never given Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk a weight. Jake Morrison, visual effects supervisor on Thor: Ragnarok (2017), called him 8 ft 6 in (2.59 m) tall, and said the fight scenes were shot with a 6 ft 4 in Hulk stuntman against a 4 ft 8 in stand-in for Thor to keep the scale right.
In 2012 physicist Rhett Allain measured the Hulk against Hawkeye in The Avengers, got about 2.5 m, and modelled the body as a bulky cylinder to estimate 645 lb (293 kg). Scaling the handbook’s 7 ft, 1,040 lb Hulk up to 8 ft 6 in instead gives about 1,860 lb (845 kg), since weight grows with the cube of height. The two methods disagree by almost three times, which shows how much depends on how dense you think he is.
Ang Lee’s Hulk (2003) went further: the Hulk grew with his rage, and ILM built 9 ft, 12 ft and 15 ft versions of the computer model.
In the comics he is 7 to 8 ft tall depending on how angry he is, and Marvel.com lists 7 ft 6 in. The MCU Hulk is about 8 ft 6 in according to the Thor: Ragnarok visual effects team.
Marvel lists Bruce Banner at 128 lb (58 kg) and 5 ft 9 in tall. As the Hulk he weighs 1,040 lb or more, about 8 times as much.
There is no official figure. Physicist Rhett Allain estimated about 645 lb (293 kg) from The Avengers, while scaling the comics weight up to his film height gives closer to 1,860 lb.
Among Marvel’s handbook figures, the Savage Hulk at his angriest: 1,400 lb (635 kg) at 8 ft tall, according to the 2004 Hulk handbook.
Yes. Joe Fixit, the grey Hulk, is listed at 6 ft 6 in and 900 lb, against 7 ft and 1,040 lb for the smallest green Savage Hulk.
