Gipsy Danger weighs 1,980 tonnes, about 4.37 million lb, using the official 1,980 tons from Pacific Rim’s art book and character poster, which make it 260 ft (79 m) tall. The book never says which ton it means: read as US short tons, it is about 1,796 tonnes. Its blueprint art gives 7,080 tons.

Where the 1,980 tons comes from
The number comes from Pacific Rim: Man, Machines & Monsters, the film’s official companion book by David S. Cohen (Insight Editions, 2013), and is repeated on Gipsy Danger’s stats card and character poster. It lists the Jaeger at 260 ft (79.25 m) and 1,980 tons: a Mark-3 machine launched on July 10, 2017 and based at the Anchorage Shatterdome, with a nuclear reactor for a heart.
Like the rest of the film’s stats, the book just says “tons”. If that means US short tons of 2,000 lb, Gipsy Danger is 3.96 million lb, or about 1,796 tonnes, 9% less than our figure. Japanese references print the same number as 1,980 t, and we follow them in reading it as metric tonnes.
One official image disagrees. The Jaeger’s PPDC blueprint art gives it 288 ft and 7,080 tons, more than three times the art book weight. The Pacific Rim Wiki lists this as a known inconsistency, and the 260 ft and 1,980 tons version is the one used everywhere else.
Is 1,980 tonnes realistic for a 79 m robot?
It is light. Scale an 80 kg, 1.8 m person up to 79 m and they get 44 times taller in every direction, so about 84,500 times heavier: roughly 6,800 tonnes. Gipsy Danger at 1,980 tonnes weighs under a third of that, as if most of its body were hollow.
The blueprint’s 7,080 tons fits a solid giant much better, and so do some of the older Mark-1 Jaegers in the official listings, such as Horizon Brave at 7,890 tons and Romeo Blue at 7,775 tons. Pacific Rim never settled on one way of weighing its machines, so treat any Jaeger weight as a design figure, not an engineering one.
Next to the other Jaegers and the Kaiju
Of the four Jaegers left in Hong Kong in the film, Gipsy Danger is the second heaviest. Russia’s Mark-1 Cherno Alpha is the giant at 2,412 tons and 280 ft, while Australia’s Mark-5 Striker Eureka is 1,850 tons and China’s three-armed Crimson Typhoon 1,722 tons, both at 250 ft.
The Kaiju it fights outweigh it. Knifehead, which tore off its arm in 2020, is listed at 2,700 tons and 315 ft, Leatherback at 2,900 tons and Otachi at 2,690 tons. That makes the scene where the winged Otachi lifts Gipsy Danger high into the sky a creature carrying about three quarters of its own weight.
Its successor in Pacific Rim: Uprising (2018), the Mark-6 Gipsy Avenger, is given as 2,004 tons and 268 ft (81.77 m), a stat the Pacific Rim Wiki credits to the film’s official Twitter account. That is barely 1% heavier than the original.
About 4.37 million lb, taking its official 1,980 tons as metric tonnes. If the figure means US short tons, it is exactly 3.96 million lb.
How tall is Gipsy Danger?
Officially 260 ft, or 79.25 m, about the height of a 25-story building. Its blueprint art is the odd one out at 288 ft.
Is Gipsy Danger heavier than Striker Eureka?
Yes. Gipsy Danger is listed at 1,980 tons and 260 ft, Striker Eureka at 1,850 tons and 250 ft, so the older Mark-3 is 130 tons heavier and 10 ft taller.
Which is the heaviest Jaeger in Pacific Rim?
Of the Jaegers that fight in Hong Kong, Cherno Alpha, at 2,412 tons. Some older Mark-1s seen in flashbacks are listed far higher, such as Horizon Brave at 7,890 tons.
How heavy is Gipsy Avenger?
Gipsy Avenger from Pacific Rim: Uprising is given as 2,004 tons and 268 ft (81.77 m), only 24 tons more than Gipsy Danger.
