Mario weighs about 70 kg (154 lb). That is the figure on a character chart for the 1986 Japanese anime film Super Mario Bros.: Peach-hime Kyūshutsu Dai Sakusen!, made with Nintendo’s cooperation, which lists him at 150 cm and 70 kg. No Mario game gives a weight: Super Mario Sunshine calls it a secret.

The only weight ever printed for Mario is on a character chart from the 1986 anime film Super Mario Bros.: Peach-hime Kyūshutsu Dai Sakusen!, released only in Japan and produced with Nintendo’s cooperation. It gives Mario a height of 150 cm and a weight of 70 kg, an age of about 25, and lists his hobby as video games. The same chart has Luigi at 158 cm and 62 kg, and Princess Peach at 160 cm and 41 kg.
Nintendo’s games have never given a number. When F.L.U.D.D. scans Mario at the start of Super Mario Sunshine (2002), a small Japanese profile flashes on screen that lists his height as unknown and his body weight as a secret.
So 70 kg is not a game stat, but it is the closest thing to an official figure, and it suits a short, stocky plumber. At 150 cm, 70 kg works out to a body mass index of about 31.
His height shifts from source to source. The 1986 film chart says 150 cm, the Super Mario Daishūgō 4koma Gag Battle manga says 165 cm, and in the original Super Smash Bros. TV commercial he stands 5 ft (152 cm). Life-size Mario figures sold in Japan stand 150 or 155 cm.
Super Mario Odyssey makes him look much shorter than its realistic humans, but fans who measured him against the distance readouts in Balloon World still got about 155 cm (5 ft 1 in). Either way, he is a short man, and Luigi is taller.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario’s weight is 98. That is not kilograms or pounds: it is a value that sets how far attacks knock a fighter back. The Melee trophy calls Mario the standard other fighters are measured against, and the code’s default is 100, but Mario has been set to 98 since the PAL version of Melee. In Ultimate he is tied for 33rd heaviest of 89 fighters with Dr. Mario, Corrin and Pyra. Bowser is the heaviest at 135 and Pichu the lightest at 62.
Mario Kart puts him in the middle as well. He is a middleweight in Double Dash!! and DS, and in the Medium class in Wii, 7, 8 and 8 Deluxe. In 8 Deluxe his weight stat is 6, the same as Ludwig and medium Miis.
Power-ups change his size, and weight grows with the cube of height. Super Mario is two blocks tall and Small Mario one, so a Small Mario that shrank evenly would weigh an eighth as much, about 9 kg. In New Super Mario Bros., Mega Mario is about seven blocks tall in the game, 3.5 times Super Mario, which gives about 3 tonnes. The box art draws him at least 13 blocks tall, which would be about 19 tonnes.
Mini Mario is smaller still. The New Super Mario Bros. manual says he is so light he can do floating jumps and run on water, and Donut Blocks do not even fall under him.
About 150 to 155 cm (4 ft 11 in to 5 ft 1 in). The 1986 anime film chart says 150 cm, and fan measurements in Super Mario Odyssey come to about 155 cm. The games themselves call his height unknown.
Mario. The 1986 film chart lists Mario at 70 kg and Luigi at 62 kg, even though Luigi is 8 cm taller. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate it is closer: Mario’s weight value is 98 and Luigi’s is 97.
98. It is a knockback value rather than a real weight, and it makes Mario a middleweight: tied for 33rd of 89 fighters, between Bowser at 135 and Pichu at 62.
No. He is listed as a middleweight or Medium-class driver in every game from Double Dash!! to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. The Mario Kart 8 bio says he sets the example for all Medium-class racers.
No game says. Scaling 70 kg up to his in-game size in New Super Mario Bros., about 3.5 times as tall, gives roughly 3 tonnes. That is our estimate, not an official figure.
