A Dragon Ball from Earth weighs about 550 g (1.2 lb) by our estimate. No official weight exists. The figure treats the ball as solid glass, about 2.5 g/cm³, at the 7.5 cm (3 in) diameter the Dragon Ball Wiki gives. All seven come to about 3.9 kg (8.5 lb), and a Namekian ball would weigh around 18 kg.

Where the 550 g comes from
Neither the manga, the anime nor any guidebook gives a Dragon Ball a weight, so 550 g is our own calculation. It rests on two things. The Dragon Ball Wiki puts Earth’s Dragon Balls at about 7.5 cm (3 in) across, a figure it does not tie to an official source; on screen they are small enough to hold in one hand. And the wiki describes them as orange crystalline spheres with the stars set inside, much like glass art.
A sphere 7.5 cm across has a radius of 3.75 cm, so its volume is 4/3 × π × 3.75³ ≈ 221 cm³. Ordinary soda-lime glass, which makes up about 90% of all glass produced, has a density of about 2.5 g/cm³. That gives 221 × 2.5 ≈ 552 g, or 1.2 lb. If the balls were solid quartz crystal instead (2.65 g/cm³), each would weigh about 585 g.
Real replicas show how much the material matters. One sold in Japan, 7.5 cm across and made of synthetic resin, is listed at about 270 g, half the glass figure. That works out to 1.22 g/cm³, which is what plastic resin weighs, so the arithmetic holds up.
Namekian, Black Star and Cerealian Dragon Balls
The Namekian Dragon Balls are as big as basketballs, and Krillin is surprised by their size when he first sees one on Namek. A regulation basketball has a circumference of 75 cm, which means a diameter of about 23.9 cm and a volume of about 7,124 cm³. In solid glass that is 17.8 kg (39 lb), around 32 times the weight of one of Earth’s balls. A set of seven would be about 125 kg.
The Black Star Dragon Balls from Dragon Ball GT are the same size as Earth’s, so the same 550 g applies. The Cerealian Dragon Balls from the Granolah arc are the smallest known set: only two exist, each about the size of a ping pong ball. A 4 cm glass sphere holds 33.5 cm³ and weighs about 84 g.
The planet-sized Super Dragon Balls
The Super Dragon Balls, made by the Dragon God Zalama, are the originals. In Dragon Ball Super episode 31, Zuno tells Bulma that each has a diameter of 37,196.2204 km, about 2.9 times Earth’s, which gives each ball roughly 25 times Earth’s volume. Kanzenshuu’s wiki lists 371,962.2204 km for the manga version of the scene, ten times larger; we use the anime figure.
Taken literally as solid glass, one ball would hold about 2.7 × 10²² m³ and weigh about 6.7 × 10²⁵ kg, roughly 11 times the mass of Earth. A real object that size would be squeezed denser by its own gravity, so this is only a sense of scale. According to the series, the Namekians made their own Dragon Balls from pieces broken off these.
About 1.2 lb (550 g), by our estimate for a solid glass ball 7.5 cm across. There is no official weight.
How heavy are all seven Dragon Balls together?
About 3.9 kg (8.5 lb) for Earth’s set at 552 g each. A Namekian set, at about 17.8 kg a ball, would come to roughly 125 kg.
How big is a Dragon Ball?
Earth’s Dragon Balls are about 7.5 cm (3 in) across according to the Dragon Ball Wiki, small enough to hold in one hand. Namekian ones are the size of a basketball, and the Super Dragon Balls are planet-sized at about 37,196 km.
What are Dragon Balls made of?
The series never names a material. They look like orange crystal or glass spheres with red stars inside, and after a wish Earth’s balls turn to stone and scatter for a year.
How heavy is a Namekian Dragon Ball?
About 17.8 kg (39 lb) if it is solid glass the size of a basketball, roughly 32 times as heavy as one of Earth’s.
