Tanjiro’s box weighs about 10 kg (22 lb) empty by our estimate; the series never gives a weight. Urokodaki built it from mist cloud fir, a very light wood, and coated it with rock lacquer. With Nezuko inside at her official 45 kg (99 lb), Tanjiro would carry around 55 kg (121 lb).

There is no official weight or size for the box. What the story does say comes from chapter 10 of the manga (episode 6 of the anime): before Tanjiro leaves on his first mission, Sakonji Urokodaki gives him a box he made for Nezuko from mist cloud fir, an extremely light wood, coated in rock lacquer to make it tough. Both materials are invented for the series, so we used the closest real wood.
The name points to sugi, Japanese cedar, a soft and light wood that the Wood Database lists at about 360 kg/m³. For the size we went by how the box sits on Tanjiro, who is 165 cm tall in the official profile: roughly 70 cm tall, 45 cm wide and 35 cm deep. Its six sides then cover about 1.44 m². With boards 1.5 cm thick that is 0.0215 m³ of wood, which at 360 kg/m³ weighs about 7.8 kg.
Add about 2 kg for the shoulder straps, the wooden frame on top, metal fittings and several coats of lacquer, and the box comes to just under 10 kg. Thicker 2 cm boards would push it to about 12 kg; a wood as light as paulownia (280 kg/m³) would bring it down to about 8 kg.
Mist cloud fir does not exist, but Japan has two real woods that fit Urokodaki’s description. Sugi is the everyday light building timber, at about 360 kg/m³. Paulownia, called kiri in Japanese, is lighter still at about 280 kg/m³ and is the traditional wood for Japanese storage chests because it stays stable when the humidity changes.
The rock lacquer is there to make the light wood tough enough for a Demon Slayer’s travels. It is not unbreakable: at the Hashira trial, Sanemi Shinazugawa drives his sword through the box and stabs Nezuko inside it.
It was not Tanjiro’s first carrier. In chapter 2, on the way to Urokodaki, he buys a broken basket with straw and bamboo from a farmer and builds a basket big enough to carry Nezuko on his back, with help from her ability to shrink.
The official fanbook gives Nezuko two sets of numbers: 39 kg at 150 cm when the story starts and she is 12, and 45 kg at 153 cm when she wakes up after Tanjiro’s Final Selection, at 14.
To fit, she shrinks to the size of a small child. The series never says whether that changes her weight. If it does not, the full box is about 55 kg, close to Tanjiro’s own official weight of 61 kg, and he carries it on his back across mountains and into fights.
About 22 lb empty, by our estimate. With Nezuko inside at her official 45 kg (99 lb), the total is around 121 lb.

The series never measures it. Judging by how it sits on 165 cm Tanjiro, we used about 70 × 45 × 35 cm. Movic’s travel case styled after it is 63 × 38 × 23 cm and weighs about 3.8 kg.
